Special Recycling

Residents only – no contractors

The South Brunswick Recycling Center is located behind the Municipal Building on the corner of Route 522 and Kingston Lane. Hours are 9 AM to 5 PM Mon.-Sat.

Appliances and White Goods: such as washers, dryers, stoves and hot water heaters, refrigerators (remove doors), freezers (remove doors), dehumidifiers, and air conditioners are picked up by appointment. Call South Brunswick Public Works at 732-329-4000 x7260.

Batteries: Rechargeable, button cell and auto batteries may be brought to the recycling center. Alkiaine batteries are no longer recyclable and should go into the garbage.

Brush is a mandated recyclable material in Middlesex County. Brush will not be collected with the garbage. It must be recycled by dropping it off at the South Brunswick Convenience Center located behind Sondek Park on East New Road. Hours: Monday through Saturday 8:30AM to 3PM. Closed Township holidays.

Directions:
From Route 1: Go east on New Road. At stop sign make a right onto Ridge Road and a quick left onto East New Road. Proceed approximately .8 mile. Sondek Park will be on the right. From Route 130: Go west on Friendship Road. Make a right onto East New Road. Sondek Park will be on the left approximately .3 mile.

Christmas Trees: Unadorned Christmas Trees (no bags please) are picked up for recycling from the curb starting January 2 through the second full week of January each year. After that, the garbage contractor will collect the trees on garbage day.

Fluorescent Bulbs/Tubes: fluorescent bulbs and tubes may be brought to the recycling center every 2nd Saturday of the month from 10AM to 2PM. Proof of residency is required. No businesses.

TV’S & Electronics: Residentially generated materials including Televisions, CPU’s, lap tops, monitors, printers, keyboards, mice, modems, scanners, computer cables, telephones and irons,thermostats,thermometers that contain mercury, can be brought to the recycling center every 2nd Saturday of the month from 10am to 2pm

Grass: Residents are encouraged to “Cut It and Leave It.” Click here for more information

Leaves are banned from the landfill and must be recycled. Loose leaves (no rocks, brush or litter) should be raked to the curb-not into the street. Leaves may be covered with an old sheet or shower curtain and secured with rocks or bricks to prevent blowing. Collections are scheduled each Fall. Paint: Middlesex County has a paint collection program trailer at So. Brunswick Recycling Center. County Residents may deliver latex or oil-based paint, and other paint related products such as stains, varnishes, lacquers, thinners and aerosol paint every 4th Saturday of each the month from 8 AM to 12 PM.

South Brunswick Residents may deliver their latex or oil-based paint, and other paint related products such as stains, varnishes, lacquers, thinners and aerosol paint every non-holiday Friday from 8 AM to 3:30 PM as well as the Middlesex County times above

Propane Tanks: Empty propane tanks may be brought to the recycling center.

Scrap Metal: Any ALL-METAL items may be brought to the recycling center.

Textiles: Bring clothing, fabric, sheets and towels to the recycling center.

Tires are not permitted in the landfill. Middlesex County has a tire recycling program where residents may deliver tires to one of four locations in the County free of charge. Only residents -no businesses-may bring up to 8 tires and must see the attendant before unloading. No oversized tires are accepted. Call Middlesex County at 732-745-4170 for more information.

Used Motor Oil: Up to 5 gallons of used motor oil in a leak proof container may be brought to the recycling center.
