Garbage Preparation

Residents only – NO CONTRACTORS

Single Family Pick up Rules:
Materials must be placed at the curb no earlier than 6 PM the evening before the scheduled pick up, but no later than 6:30AM the morning of your pickup. DO NOT place items in the street. All garbage must be bagged, bundled, or in a can; use a container no more than 32 gallons and weighing no more than 50 lbs., or a plastic bag weighing no more than 35 lbs.

Multi-Family Pick Up Rules:
Bag all garbage and place inside dumpsters located in your development. Please close lids and gates. Place bulk items inside the enclosure or at an area specifically designated by your development.

Bulk Garbage

  • Large items (furniture) may be set out on normal garbage day or placed next to the nearest dumpster. A maximum of 3 bulk items per week will be collected.  Mattresses must be wrapped in plastic or placed in a designated disposal bag for disposal.
  • Construction projects (kitchen/bathroom remodeling, etc.) will not be collected at the curb.  Residents must make their own arrangements for disposal.
  • Carpet and padding must be cut to 4′ lengths and rolled, tied, or taped. Set out on normal garbage day or place next to nearest dumpster. A maximum of 3 bundles per week.
  • Hazardous materials are accepted on the Middlesex County Hazardous Waste Collection Days. Contact the Public Works Department, or see the Hazardous

Unacceptable Garbage Items
Business, Commercial, or Trade waste, such as waste created by a professional carpenter, plumber, etc. are not accepted with normal garbage. Paint, recyclables, appliances (such as stoves. refrigerators, etc.), propane tanks, hazardous materials, tires, leaves, and Christmas trees are not accepted with normal garbage.
