Resolution 2026-38 Designating the Floating Holiday and Establishing the Holiday Schedule for 2026

WHEREAS, contracts between the Township of South Brunswick and employee organizations provide for a floating holiday to be fixed on an annual basis; and

 WHEREAS, the contract with AFSCME, the largest employee organization, designates

Columbus Day, as a holiday rather than providing for a floating holiday; and

 WHEREAS, it is more efficient if all employees utilize the same day for a holiday; and

 WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Township Council to establish the official Township holidays for the year 2026.

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, on this 5^th day of January, 2026 by the Township Council of the Township of South Brunswick, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, that:

1. Columbus Day is hereby designated as the floating holiday for the year 2026.
2. The attached schedule designating holidays for the years noted is hereby adopted.

          THE FOLLOWING FIFTEEN OFFICIAL HOLIDAYS

 SHALL BE OBSERVED BY THE TOWNSHIP FOR THE YEAR 2026
